[Varda]

ELDAR

The Eldar include the races that are all humanoid in appearance. Of these races: Fairies, Witches and Wizards have innate magic whereas Humans and Dwarves can only use 'learned' magic. They are by far the most common beings that populate the Magic Dimension, especially the core planets.

HUMANS

Humans are an edanic race and are the most common of all races in the known dimension. They have no magic though they are the most resilient to magic and are a strong and hardy race, falling only behind the dwarves in strength and endurance. This allows them to fight magic despite not having any themselves.

Appearance: Human in appearance.
Location: Widespread. Found in greatest numbers on Earth.
Powers: None.
Abilities: Resistance to magic, strength, endurance.

FAIRIES

Fairies are one of four eldarin races. They take on a human appearance, though they are able to to transform into various fairy forms (dependent on their level) to allow them to access their full powers.

Fairies derive their magical strength through positive emotions and light. These emotions include: Love, courage, peace and friendship. They are not inherently good however as they need to focus on positive emotions, they are more inclined to align themselves as morally good beings.

WITCHES

Witches are the most ancient of eldarin races. Like fairies, they have a human appearance and a variety of alternate forms into which they transform into to unlock their full powers.

Witches derive their magical energy from the darkness and negative emotions. These emotions are usually: Hate, fear, jealousy or rage. They are not inherently bad though they are more likely to align themselves as morally ambiguous as they need to focus on powerful negative emotions to be at their strongest.

WIZARDS

Wizards are an eldarin race. They do not have any alternate forms though it is common for them to undergo small physical changes when they use their magic (for example: change of eye colour, luminescence.).

Like fairies, wizards derive their strength through positive emotions and light, meaning they have a higher tendency to strive to be morally good.

DWARVES

Dwarves are an ancient race of edain that have dwindled in numbers over the years but nevertheless, have persisted. Despite stereotypes, they are generally well-groomed and appear as simply smaller and stockier humans.

They face a lot of prejudice in society, often seen as a backwards and xenophobic race that live in holes in the ground. It is largely a result of this prejudice that many of the dwarves prefer to keep to their vast underground cities- some of these cities are more beautiful than one could ever imagine.

They are renowned for their smithery and in particular rune magic which they use to enchant their weapons.

Lifespan: 150 - 200 years
Appearance: Smaller and more muscular than the average human, though they find the stereotypical hairy and sordid image of them quite insulting. The dwarves stand taller than most imagine and range from about 130cm to 150cm.
Location: Some of their largest underground kingdoms are found on Hoggar and Eraklyon though it is not as rare for younger dwarves to live in larger cities nowadays.
Languages: Khûzdul (Dwarven) and the common tongue.
Powers: Rune magic and enchantments.
Abilities: Strongest of all races, have a natural talent for crafting, masonry and forging.

[Varda]

FAE

The fae are elemental beings, associated with one element. Unlike the eldar, fae have an intricate bond with their associated element and are very sensitive to changes to that element. They do more than use elemental magic, they are connected to the elements and use magic to change nature itself. Fae are often more reclusive in nature and mainly inhabit the outer planets.

MERFOLK

Merfolk belong to the water element, they can sense the life within a body of water and their powers include all forms of water manipulation.

Their transformation into human form is a painful one and requires time for the individual to dry. Once they are in human form, they do not require any special requirements after that.

Lifespan: 300 - 350 years
Element: Water
Appearance: Human torso and the tail of a fish. They also have gills near their neck and some have colourful fins along their spine and arms.
Abilities: They can use water as a powerful healing element.
Location: Found living alongside the inhabitants of Andros. There are small communities in other realms but they are few in number.

SATYRS

Satyrs are known as the most curious and adventurous of the fae, often visiting the eldar societies and communities. They are often known as quite a playful and cheerful race. They belong to the earth element and can feel changes and vibrations in the ground.

Satyrs cannot change into human form, though they can use their control of the earth to fashion themselves ordinary-looking legs.

Element: Earth
Appearance: Human torso with the legs of a goat. Many of the males have horns as well.
Abilities: They can sense vibrations in the earth, thus able to sense others approaching or sense natural disasters on land.
Location: It is not uncommon for them to also form communities and villages in the core planets.

CENTAURS

Centaurs belong to the celestial element, they are connected to the heavenly bodies in the sky and are able to use the stars to predict glimpse into the future and past. They are able to summon the light of the stars and moon.

Centaurs are able to transform into human forms when they are at their most powerful- in other words, during the night. During the day they are deprived of a lot of their magic and cannot stay in there human form.

Lifespan: 320 - 360 years
Element: Celestial
Appearance: Human torso with the legs of a horse. They often have pointed ears and acute features as well as very long hair. They are the most powerful and tallest of fae, easily reaching 250cm.
Abilities: Catch glimpses of the past, present and future from the stars and are able to glow during the night.
Location: Found in several secluded regions of realms such as the deep forests in Linphea or the plains of Solaria.

ELVES

The Elves are considered chief among the fae and rule both the unseelie and seelie courts. They belong to the element of music and it is through song that they can shape how something grows and its properties.

The elves are divided into two classes: The high elves (seelie) and dark elves (unseelie). Neither of these groups can take a human form though using illusions than can come across as human. The magic to do so is taxing and only works on those who are not paying close attention.

Lifespan: 380 - 400 years
Element: Music
Appearance: Almost human in appearance but they have some very distinct differences. Elves are much taller, standing at an average of 200cm and are much more delicate and elegant. They also have long, pointed ears.
Abilities: Elves can control and strengthen the properties of living beings through song.
Location: Can be found in cities, notably Melody and Eraklyon.

Lifespan: 380 - 400 years
Element: Music
Appearance: Same as High Elves. Though they tend to have dark blue/purple/grey skin.
Abilities: Elves can alter and change the properties of living beings through song.
Location: Mainly found on more secluded realms such as Whisperia.

NYMPHS

There are few beings who are said to be as beautiful or as graceful as the nymphs. Nymphs belong to the element of nature and as a result they can take on some of the morphology of natural objects such as having leaf-like hair or bark-like skin.

Nymphs are the most shy in nature of the fae and given their brilliant abilities to camouflage themselves, finding a nymph who doesn't want to be found is near impossible.

Nymphs can take a human form but the longer the time they spend in human form, the harder it is for them to change back. Most nymphs can spend up to a day in human form before they begin to struggle to turn back. It is not unheard of for a nymph to become human but a great deal of them turn insane not long after.

Element: Nature
Appearance: They are similar to elves in form though nymphs can change parts of their body to mimic nature. They can change their appearance and they often do with seasons or changes to their homes. They have an aura of grace and are famed for their beauty.
Abilities: Nymphs are able to camouflage themselves within a forest at their will.
Location: Found in densely forested areas and realms.

HARPIES

Harpies are the freedom-loving guardians of the skies and belong to the air element. They make fierce fighters with agility that can outmatch most fairies and witches and razor-sharp talons in the place of feet. But grounded, a harpy loses many of their advantages.

It is exceedingly rare for a harpy to want to change into a human form but they are able to retract their feathers with great pain. They can spend around twelve hours in human form before their feathers will begin to grow whether they wish to or not.

Element: Air
Appearance: They have a human torso and the wings and legs of a bird. Harpies often have quite acute and pointed features. They come in all colours and forms.
Abilities: Harpies are able to change the weather beyond the control of the eldar, the more harpies there are- the stronger the weather patterns.
Location: Found in the mountains or on the cliffside regions of Hoggar and Melody.

FURIES

Furies are the most chaotic of all the fae, not necessarily evil but they generally have a strong disregard for rules. They belong to the element of fire and are both curious and mischievous by nature. Like satyrs, it is not uncommon for them to visit the eldar and cause trouble.

The last thing anyone with half a brain would do is to upset a fury. They have a fierce temper and are very loyal to one another. Naturally they have horns and tails but they can easily switch into a human form at very little expense, though they are much more vulnerable in human form.

Element: Fire
Appearance: They have elf-like forms though they are shorter than both elves and humans, standing at an average of 160cm. In their natural forms their skins are tinted red and they have often haves horns and tails.
Abilities: Furies have the ability to change their forms at a moment's notice. They are restricted however, to human-esque forms.
Location: Found on Pyros and they are not all that uncommon living among big cities, often in very lively places.
